The Stampede

Ten days. One city. An experience unlike anything else.

The Calgary Stampede is one of the world's great events — a ten-day celebration of western culture, rodeo, chuck wagon racing, live music, and the kind of communal energy that turns a group of colleagues or friends into something closer. Held every July, it draws visitors from across the world and transforms the entire city.

We've organised Stampede group trips from the ground up — hotel blocks, private transportation, Stampede Superpasses, and a full programme of experiences that go well beyond the grounds. Indigenous cultural experiences, a day in Banff, axe throwing, mechanical bulls, Nashville North VIP. The kind of trip that people talk about for years.

Sample Programme

Eight days. Fully loaded.

This is based on a real group trip we organised — 18 people, seven nights at the Westin, a 24-seat private bus, and a programme built around getting the most out of every day. Your version will be shaped around your group size, interests, and budget.

Day 1
Arrive & Dinner at Sky 360
The group settles into the Westin — a block of rooms centrally located and well-suited to group logistics. The evening opens at Sky 360, Calgary's revolving restaurant at the top of the Calgary Tower. The city spread below, the Rockies on the horizon, and the Stampede grounds lit up below. The tone is set.

Day 2
Private Indigenous Sweat Lodge Experience
One of the most meaningful days of the programme. A private sweat lodge ceremony arranged through our Indigenous liaisons — a genuine, respectful cultural experience that gives the group a deeper understanding of the land and people the Stampede is built on. Lunch and snacks are included. This is the experience people talk about most when they get home.

Day 3
Axe Throwing & Ranchmans
The afternoon is spent at axe throwing — a competitive, hilarious activity that brings out a side of people office life tends to suppress. The evening moves to Ranchmans, Calgary's legendary country bar — dance lessons, mechanical bull riding, and a night that always runs longer than planned.

Day 4–5
Banff Day Trip & Stampede Evening Show
A private guided day trip into Banff National Park — one of the world's most dramatic mountain landscapes, an hour from Calgary. Packed lunch, drinks, and snacks provided on the bus. That evening, the group returns for the Stampede Evening Show — grandstand entertainment that covers everything from country music to spectacular set pieces.

Day 6
Horseback Riding, Roping & Ranch Lunch
A full western day out of the city. Horseback riding and cattle roping with working ranch hands — the real version, not a tourist approximation. Lunch at the ranch brings the group together around a table that feels a world away from everything else. One of the most consistently memorable days of the programme.

Day 7–8
Stampede Rodeo & Nashville North VIP
The programme closes with the Stampede's main events. The afternoon rodeo — chuck wagons, bull riding, barrel racing — watched from good seats with the group together. The final evening is Nashville North VIP: Stampede's legendary country music venue, with VIP access that puts the group in the right place for the last night. The fitting end to a week that earns its reputation.

What We Handle

Every detail. Nothing left to chance.

Group trips to the Stampede have a lot of moving parts. Hotel availability is tight, Stampede passes sell out, and coordinating 15–30 people across a full week of activities requires someone who's done it before. That's us.

Hotel Room Blocks
We secure blocks of rooms at central Calgary hotels well in advance — the kind of availability that disappears fast during Stampede week. One hotel, everyone together, logistics made simple.
Private Transportation
A private bus for the duration — no taxis, no coordinating Ubers, no one getting left behind. The bus goes where the group goes, on the group's schedule, with a driver who knows the city.
Stampede Superpasses
Group Stampede Superpasses — full access to the grounds for the duration of your stay. We handle the booking, the allocation, and any specific event ticketing on top.
Day Trips & Excursions
Banff, ranch experiences, cultural activities — all arranged with the right guides and operators, with food and logistics included. No group left trying to figure out directions from a parking lot.
Reservations & VIP Access
Dinners, bar reservations, VIP venue access, dance lesson bookings — the things that are impossible to arrange last-minute for a group, handled well in advance by people with the right relationships.
On-the-Ground Support
Our team is reachable via WhatsApp throughout the trip. Plans change, people have questions, things occasionally go sideways — we're there to sort it immediately so the group experience doesn't miss a beat.

Who It's For

Built for groups who want everything taken care of.

We've organised Stampede trips for corporate groups, friend groups, and family reunions. The common thread is people who want a genuinely exceptional shared experience without any single person having to carry the planning weight.

Corporate & Team Groups
The Stampede is one of the best corporate event backdrops in the world — a shared experience that builds real connection across a team. We've run trips for groups of 15 to 30 people, managing the logistics so the organiser can participate rather than coordinate.
Friend Groups & Celebrations
A milestone birthday, a reunion, a trip that's been talked about for years — the Stampede delivers the kind of shared experience that becomes a reference point for a group. We design the programme around what your group actually enjoys, not a generic itinerary.
International Visitors
For groups coming from outside Canada, the Stampede combined with Banff and genuine western cultural experiences offers something entirely unlike anywhere else in the world. We handle everything — from airport transfers to the last night — so international guests can focus on the experience.
First-Timers
The Stampede is overwhelming if you've never been — the grounds are vast, the schedule is packed, and knowing what's worth your time versus what's a tourist trap takes experience. We've done the work so your group gets the Stampede that deserves its reputation.

Why Free & Easy

We've done this before. Many times.

Proven Group Experience
We've organised Stampede group trips from scratch — hotel blocks, private buses, cultural experiences, and a full daily programme. We know what works, what doesn't, and how to sequence a week so it builds rather than exhausts.
The Right Relationships
The Indigenous liaisons for the sweat lodge, the ranch operators, the Ranchmans contacts, the Nashville North VIP access — these relationships take years to build. We bring them with us so your group gets access that isn't available off the street.
One Point of Contact
Group trips have a hundred moving parts. The single biggest thing we provide is someone who holds all of them — so the organiser isn't managing a spreadsheet of vendors while everyone else is having fun.
Available Throughout
Our team is reachable via WhatsApp for the duration of the trip. If something changes, if someone has a question, if the bus is running late — we sort it. You focus on the group.

What Travellers Say

Trips they'll talk about for years.

Being in our 40s, we do not travel the way 20-year-olds do. It was so great to be able to trust Free & Easy to look after all the details. No matter where we were, we were just a quick message away from any help. On a scale from one to ten, we give them fifteen!

Tammy & Robert Bell · 2026

Very responsive and very knowledgeable. They tailored everything to our group and were with us through text the whole way — whenever we needed help. Couldn't have asked for a better experience.

Common Questions

Everything you need to know.

The Calgary Stampede runs for ten days every July, typically starting on the first Friday of the month. Dates shift slightly year to year. We recommend planning and booking well in advance — hotel availability during Stampede week is extremely tight, and the best properties and group rates go early.
We've organised Stampede trips for groups ranging from around 12 to 30 people. Smaller groups are welcome — many of the experiences we include, like the sweat lodge and ranch day, are actually more meaningful with an intimate group. Get in touch and tell us who's travelling and we'll advise on what works for your size.
Not at all — the sample programme is a starting point. We build your trip around what your group actually wants. Some groups prioritise the rodeo and Stampede grounds. Others want the cultural experiences and Banff day trip. We design the programme collaboratively and can trim, add, or swap anything to fit your group's interests and the number of days you have.
Cost varies significantly based on group size, number of nights, hotel choice, and which activities you include. Hotel rates during Stampede week are premium — this is one of Calgary's busiest periods of the year. The good news is that many costs (bus, guide, some experiences) are shared across the group, which makes the per-person cost more manageable than it might look. We don't work from a fixed price list — we'd rather understand what you're looking for and build a quote that fits. Flexible payment structures are also available for groups. Just reach out.
Absolutely. Banff is already part of the programme, but groups often extend into Jasper, the Icefields Parkway, or Vancouver before or after the Stampede. We design multi-destination Canadian itineraries and can build a trip that makes the most of the country around the event.
