As the point where the Mediterranean and Atlantic oceans meet, Tarifa boasts a unique climate and has become known as one of the world’s top destinations for wind sports. With a history that goes as far back as 710 AD, this windswept town’s winding streets and tangible North African feel make for a very distinctive Spanish experience. Seville

Situated on the plain of the River Guadalquivir, which runs through the middle of the city and is bridged by lovely stone bridges, Seville is the largest city in Andalusia and contains not one, but THREE UNESCO World Heritage Sites. Many of it’s winding streets are lined with Bitter Seville orange trees that perfume the air as you stroll from one bar to another, tasting the delicious locals tapas on offer. Probably the most famous of Seville’s heritage sites is the Alcázar. Taking over 500 years to build, and a mix of Mudéjar and Renaissance styles, it was used to shoot many Game of Thrones episodes. Seville is the perfect place to end your perfect 10 days in Spain!

Epic Experiences you will have on this adventure

Tour the Sagrada Familia

The Sagrada Familia is perhaps Barcelona’s most recognizable monument. A large Roman Catholic Church designed by famed Spanish architect Antoni Gaudí, it has been under construction since 1882. Although currently still incomplete, it is nonetheless a UNESCO World Heritage Sight. The incredible detail found in the church along with its avant-garde design combining Gothic and curvilinear Art Nouveau forms makes it a must-see while in Spain. Sagrada Familia’s construction has been very slow, relying on private donations and interrupted by the Spanish Civil War. It’s been 134 years in the making, but we will need to wait a little bit longer for it to be complete. The church’s anticipated completion date is 2026, marking the 100th anniversary of Gaudí’s death. Free & Easy is stoked to include a guided tour of this architectural masterpiece in our trip to Spain!

7 Days on a Yacht

Prepare yourself to live the dream for 7 nights on a deluxe yacht where you can work on your tan all day and party hard into the night at any one of the many mindblowing bars and clubs that Croatia has on offer. Everyday brings a new adventure and another sensational view as we navigate our way around Croatia stopping to swim, party, and enjoy the moment . From clubbing in a cave or a castle, to kayaking around Dubrovnik (aka Kings Landing), or getting the adrenaline pumping as you zipline your way down mountains, it's safe to say there is never a dull moment. With breakfast and lunch served on board and a bar stocked and ready to quench your thirst, the only things you'll have to worry about are whether to laze in a deck chair with cocktail in hand or backflip your way into the cool blue waters of the Adriatic.

Go Scuba Diving

Diving is like no other experience on Earth. Life under the water is silent and peaceful, everything is flowing and moving in a way that we land creatures are unaccustomed to. Despite all of our high tech equipment, we are extremely out of our element in the water and it is a humbling experience to watch and observe what life is like under the sea. Fish come in all shapes, sizes and colours and move together in a harmonious unison through beautiful coral and twisted sunlight. On our trips, scuba diving is a huge activity as we travel to countries that offer some of the best diving in the world. The Caribbean in Central America possesses the second largest reef in the world, the warm waters of the South Pacific in Southeast Asia are home to the largest diversity of sea-life in the world and the seas of the Mediterranean are full of rich history and beauty. There is a whole universe under the ocean and experiencing what’s it like to be in it is a must at least once in your life!

Walking the Dubrovnik City Walls

Exploring the amazing city of Dubrovnik (King’s Landing!) is an awesome highlight of this trip. And it wouldn’t be complete without getting a first hand look at the old city from above while walking the city walls. Being nearly 2000 metres all the way around with steps up and down it’s winding paths, it’s not just a stroll through the city: it’s an adventure. It’s one of the best examples of fortification and defence in Europe and boasts a long standing lifetime of keeping Dubrovnik safe with no army ever breaching it during the Middle Ages. Those views though… You can see out into the Mediterranean one way, down into the old city another way, and out into the modern day traffic and roadways another way. It’s an afternoon with a slice of what makes Croatia special with it’s ever colliding cultures of old with new. The sights will leave you breathless. Or maybe that’s the sun and heat beating down on you in this country of nearly constant perfect summer weather. After the photo ops and success of making it all the way around, treat yourself with a slice of pizza, one of Croatia’s hidden specialties, and cheers with a cold brew to celebrate another amazing day discovering something new.

Exceptional Breakfast and Lunch on the Yacht

Prepare to be delighted. The food on the yacht in Croatia is UNREAL. 7 days on the yacht, breakfast and lunch included, that's 14 meals included on your trip! Score! Every breakfast is an amazing buffet spread with tea, coffee, juice, muesli, cereal, eggs, ham, fruits, veggies and much more! Wake up in Croatia like the Croatians do: by the ocean, eating well, feeling fresh. The 2 course lunch is always served to you, like the star that you are! We've been served homemade soups, local pastas, perfectly cooked veggies, fresh fish, exquisite meats, crunchy salads, delicious desserts, and it's always amazing. The food on the yacht is a huge part of what makes this experience so amazing. The crew cater to your every need, dietary restrictions and allergies are no problem at all (As long as you let us know beforehand! Don't worry, we'll ask you). Every meal is prepared fresh on the yacht, eaten next to your friends, and just as importantly, next to the bar. Grab a beer, grab a seat, enjoy your meals!

Cycling in Mljet National Park

Mljet National Park is the perfect place to grab a bicycle and go get lost. With paths ranging from paved roads to gravel hills, it’s an adventure that you will not soon forget. It’s best to pack a few snacks and a couple road pops because you won’t want to turn around and go back. The winding paths take you through the trees and around two huge salt water lakes, Veliko and Malo Jezero where you can hop off your bike and go for a float to cool down. It’s the perfect way to get your fresh air fix and reconnect with nature. And of course, it’s made all the better with your friends by your side. In the middle of the large lake is Islet Melita, a small island housing a former Benedictine monastery from the 12th century, which is now a restaurant. A quick boat ride over and you’re transported back in time with nothing to worry about except how amazing the world truly is. Mljet is a quiet area with a focus on chilling out and relaxing, so after a wonderfully full day, it’s time to bike back to the yacht for some back flips and well deserved lounging while watching the sun set on another beautiful day in the paradise of Croatia.

Party in an Outdoor Nightclub

Seize the Day at Hvar’s coolest night club. A hop, skip, and jump from where our yacht docks is one of the most unique club entrances of all time: a boat ride. First get on a boat taxi, filled only with people going to the same party as you. Second, watch as the coast behind you disappears and the island ahead of you becomes is illuminated by the night sky. Third, disembark from the boat onto the island. Lastly…PARTY! Carpe Diem boasts amazing DJs every night, great dancers, 4 bars, and best of all: it’s outdoors! Dance among the trees, party by the water, mingle amounst the rocks. Whatever your heart desires, you’ll find it at Carpe Diem.

Zipline the Cetina Canyon

Looking for that adrenaline rush on our 10-day Croatian adventure? We’ve got it. Ziplining in the Cetina Canyon is always a crowd pleaser, and it’s easily one of the most amazing ways to see the countryside. With 2100 meters of zipline across 8 different runs, you’ll be glad you said yes to this activity. The highest run is a whopping 150 meters above the canyon river so you and your friends can get the rush you’ve been craving! Straight off the yacht, onto a bus, and into the canyon. It’s that easy to defy the daily grind. Never look back, always say yes to something that scares you, and enjoy every day like it may be your last: travel meets adventure in Croatia with Free and Easy!

Kayaking in Dubrovnik

Epic Travel Alters Perspective… so get an altered perspective of the super cool coastal city of Dubrovnik. Skip the “normal” views and paths well traveled and get a unique tour of this amazing city along with the island of Lokrum, and be witness to a beauty that many travelers miss. The city was attacked numerous times, but has held its own and today still stands for our enjoyment. Grab your new TFFs, rent a few kayaks and get ready for a heck of an afternoon exploring the turquoise waters surrounding this ancient hold. With an amazing local guide to point out all of the best parts, you know you’ll be getting the best tour in town. But paddling is hard work! You’ll definitely deserve a cold one with your fellow paddlers on the pier after the adventure is over.

Discover Hvar’s Fortica

Discover a wild history on the island of Hvar. In 1282 the Venetians ordered the protection of Hvar by means of high walls and a strong fort. The Fortica was completed in the mid-16th century, and just in time at that. When Turkish armies attacked, the town sought refuge within the walls of the Fortica as their town burned. Today the Fortica welcomes newcomers instead of shutting out enemies and aren’t we lucky! Walk through town, the ancient Pjaca (the largest town square in Dalmatia Islands), and the 13th century walls will take you through beautiful gardens where a winding path brings you to the top of the city and into the Fortica for a view you’ll never forget.

Ultra Europe

Ultra Europe, a part of Destination Ultra--Croatia Music Week, is a three-day electronic music festival held at Poljud Stadium in Split. To mention only a few, headliners from the 2016 event included Deadmaus, Armin Van Buuren, Hardwell, David Guetta, and so many more! They included a ton of independent, up-and-coming acts for you to discover for the first time. Going with Free and Easy means you'll always have a crew that's as ready to rage as you are. Head in with your TFFs, grab a bite from one of many food stops (gyro, pizza, falafel, smoothies, so many choices!) and carb up before the night whisks you away. No need to leave your wandering spirit at the door since Ultra Europe boasts four unique stages: Main Stage, Resistance, Arcadia Afterburner, and the UMF Radio Stage for non-stop tunes to carry you late into the night. The energy on the grounds is palpable and it's impossible not to get caught up in the magic that is Ultra. This truly is one of the biggest parties in the world. It’s a chance to be a part of something bigger than you that celebrates music, togetherness, and unity across the globe and we can't wait to be there with you.

A Taste of Tapas

You can’t visit Spain without diving into the culinary delight that are Tapas. Because dinner in Spain is usually served between 9 and 11 p.m., and sometimes even later, tapas arose as a cultural necessity…people were getting downright hangry between the end of work and the serving of dinner. Small bite-sized appetizers or snacks, tapas can range from cold dishes likes mixed olives or cheese or different types of pickled foods, to hot bites like battered squid or meatballs with different sauces. No matter what you try, this is going to be a set of snacks that you will never forget. There is a reason Spain is famous for its cuisine. They can turn the most basic of food items into one of the most delicious culinary experiences of your life. The serving of tapas is meant to encourage conversation, since people aren’t focused on eating a huge meal; some tapas bars are even designed with little to no seating, so that patrons stand mingle while consuming their tapas (with a drink in hand of course). So grab your TFFs and head to that tapas bar you noticed tucked away in a little alley. #NoRegrets

Surf an Atlantic Wave

Nothing compares to the feeling you get the first time you paddle into a wave, stand up as it breaks and ride the face of it – this is the incomparable feeling of surfing. When you get it right, you'll know, because you'll be more excited than the first time you had sex and probably more addicted to it, too! Surfing is arguably the most challenging sport in the world and requires you to learn much more than physical coordination. In order to surf a wave, you'll need patience, discipline, a lack of fear and an insatiable urge to have fun. There aren't many places in Europe that can post wicked surf scenes, but Spain and Portugal sure can! These countries have become known among surf aficionados for small towns with killer breaks. Ready, set, paddle!

Sip on Fine Wines…For Cheap!

The Mediterranean is home to some of the best-known wines in the world. The variety of climates spread across the Iberian Peninsula mean that both Spain and Portugal have very strong wine-making traditions…in fact Spain’s wine-producing dates all the way back to at least 3000 years ago! Not only that, but buying wines in these countries is CHEAP! It’s the backpacker’s paradise! Incredible wines for just a few dollars a bottle? Count us in! Whether you’re sipping on Portugal’s famed Vinho Verde, or trying a delicious bottle from the famous Rioja and Tempranillo regions of Spain, you are unlikely to have complaints. Looking to try something new? What about a fortified wine? Port and Madeira in Portugal, and Sherry in Spain are very well known and definitely worth a try. So let your inner wino out, save your dollars and start sipping!

Have Your Taste Buds Blown at La Boquería

Spain’s food markets are an essential part of life in the country. Fresh produce and seafood is abundant; it’s part of what makes Spain’s culinary scene so outstanding. Each neighborhood generally boats its own market where the commercial life of each area gathers. La Boquería in Las Ramblas is one of the most famed markets in Barcelona. Here you will find the freshest catch of the day, colourful fruits and vegetables, the most delicious cured meats (You must try the Jamon Iberico…it’s famous!), more olive oil (that you can ask to taste!) then you’ve seen in your life, and SO MUCH MORE! If you’re a foodie then La Boquiería is heaven. Even if you’re not, you’re going to want to go experience, and taste, it. Venturing into the market means discovering the essence of Barcelona.

Explore the Alhambra

One of the largest tourist attractions in Granada, and one of the most visited monuments in all of Spain, the Alhambra is not to be missed. And lucky for you, Free & Easy is happy to include a guided tour of this epic spot in your trip to this glorious country! A UNESCO World Heritage Site, this Moorish citadel and palace is the most renowned building to come of the Andalusian Islamic history. The Iberian Peninsula (then known as Hispania) was conquered by the Moors of North Africa in the early 8th century, when it came to be known as Al-Andalus. The Alhambra was built by the Moors in the 9th century and overlooks all of Granada, providing some truly stunning views (and sunsets to boot). Its name can be loosely translated from Arabic as the Red Castle, due to the distinct reddish hue of its walls. Walk your way through history and some stunning architecture in Granada!

Catch a Breeze with Wind Sports

Few people realize that Southern Spain is one of the most sought after destinations in the world for wind sports. From kiteboarding to windsurfing, enthusiasts from across the globe have descended on tiny Spanish towns with beautiful white-sand beaches in recent years, turning them into ideal backpacking hubs. With an ultra-chill vibe, mellow pace of life and upbeat nighttime scene, towns like Tarifa, on the southernmost tip of the country, are quickly becoming a staple on the backpacker circuit. Why nor try something new? Lessons are available on most beaches for a variety of experience levels. So whether you’re new to windsports or a seasoned veteran, have an epic experience with some of the coolest activities around.

Take a Spanish Cooking Class

Cooking classes are one of the best ways to explore a new country. After all, food is a key ingredient in the discovery of a new culture. And Europe has been an epicenter of culinary delights and creations for centuries! Take a tour of the local market to try some of the freshest seafood, uber colourful local produce, and the most amazing cured meats. Then join your chef in sipping on a glass of wine (or three!) as you explore Spanish cuisine and local specialties. Trust us, this will be the best paella you try in the country, and you’ll be able to say you had a hand in making it! So don your chef coat and come hungry.

Drink All the Sangria

Ah, Sangria. Does anything taste better on a balmy summer day as you sit chatting with friends on your porch? Well it’s even better when you’re chilling in Spain and Portugal with your brand spankin’ new TFFs! Spain and Portugal are the Sangria Capitals of Europe! Not only has Sangria been around in these areas for close to 2,000 years, but it’s also where you will find some of the cheapest, most delicious versions of this wine cocktail that you can imagine. So what exactly is Sangria? Traditionally it consists of red wine (although some people now make it with white instead), chopped fruit like orange, lemon, peaches and/or berries, a sweetener like honey or fruit juice, and brandy. It’s then left to sit in the fridge for as little as a few minutes all the way up to a few days! Thinking of ordering a glass of it? Forget it…order a pitcher. Some nightclubs even sell it by the 2L bottle. Now that’s hardcore. Whether you’re tucked away in a tiny café off La Rambla, or sitting in a beachside bar in Lagos, this wine-based specialty is sure to quench your thirst and lead to the best of times.

Ramble Down La Rambla

Welcome to La Rambla, the most famous street in Spain. A beautiful tree-lined promenade located in central Barcelona, La Rambla forms the boundary between the Gothic Quarter to the east and El Raval to the west. Here you can find street traders and performers, kiosks selling newspapers and flowers, as well as pavement cafés and bars. Originally a waterway, the pavement itself has actually been designed to reflect its history with a rippling, water-like pattern. Stroll along and stop at everything from a celebrated Joan Miró mosaic, to famed La Boquería market, and Barcelona’s oldest theatre, the Teatre Principal. Wander down any of La Rambla’s branching side streets and you will come across tiny tapas bars, vintage stores, pubs, bakeries and anything else you can imagine. Some of your favourite nights in the city will probably happen around the hub that is La Rambla!

Barcelona City Tour

We will have our young local guide take us around the Gothic Quarter, showing us all the fascinating buildings and explaining the history in a way that will keep you captivated and doesn't feel like history class!

Experience the Flamenco

Flamenco goes to the heart of Spanish culture. An art-form native to the Andalusian region of Spain, it dates back to the 1700s, and is now popular the world over. In fact, there are actually more Flamenco academies in Japan than in Spain! On a technical level, Flamenco includes cante (singing), toque (guitar playing), baile (dance), jaleo (vocalizations), palmas (handclapping) and pitos (finger snapping). But really, going to see a Flamenco performance is an incredibly immersive experience not to be missed. The passion that is portrayed and enacted by the performers is captivating, and it truly is a unique style of art. Whether you simply want to go watch a show, or take a lesson while you’re there, Spain is THE place to experience the Flamenco.

River Rafting Croatia

Rafting in Croatia is an awesome way to spend an afternoon getting some refreshing outdoors time and stretching some muscles you might not be used to using. Nothing feels better than that dopamine after trying something new! The rapids aren’t too strong, so it makes for a relaxing, fun time floating through the forested river. Rafting is all about team work and following the instructions of your local guide who knows all the hidden gems, including a sweet cliff jumping spot and the slow areas where you can jump out and have a swim in the refreshing fresh water. Paddling together and working as a team has a way of solidifying a friendship, whether it’s with an old friend or someone you just met. Completing tasks and accomplishing something together is one of those surprising things you don’t always think will happen when you’re traveling, but when it does, it reminds you of the passion and spirit of the human race. It reminds you that there’s always room for more friends in your life, especially those willing to jump in a raft with you and navigate down a winding, rapid filled river on an adventure you took the chance on. Plus, you won’t be able to wipe the smile off your face once you reach the finish line! It’s a wonderful five hour adventure that will leave you wanting more.

Party in a Cave

Caves are a dark, mysterious place and can be pretty spooky, but when they’re filled with all your friends, illuminated by funky lights, and the air is filled with pumping beats then a cave is one hell of a place to party! Makarska, one of the stops on our yacht trip, will have us spending an evening of good fun in the beautiful club Deep. With the surprisingly spacious cave acting as the centrepiece with a dancefloor and bar, the rest is for you to explore. Deep is set right on the water, so choose your seat: on the rocks, in the water, by the bar. Either way, this unique experience is sure to be one of your favourites! Once the sun comes up, we'll emerge from Deep like bats to return to our yacht and keep the party going there!

Party in a Fortress

Are you ready for one of the best club experiences of your life? Enter through rock arches that have been standing since the 16th century, stare up at ornate ceilings yawning high above you, venture up dramatic staircases twisting to the next story of the fortress, grab a drink from the bar and get ready to spend all night partying in Revelin! World class DJs, trippy aerial dancers, and plenty of interesting spaces to dance and mingle in make this a night to remember! Once a Fortress used to reinforce the Old City of Dubrovnik, this is an epic setting for light shows, cage dancers, and you & all of your new friends! Now a museum by day, club by night, Revelin will be sure to ignite your imagination and remind you that this is the reason you travel: to discover the unexpected and revel in it.
