PLEASE NOTE - This trip has been cancelled and we will not be running any trips for the foreseeable future.

Japan has long held fascination for travelers for its amazing cultural offerings - sushi, sumo, karate, geishas, samurais, bonsai trees, sake, ceremonies and shrines. Nowadays, its contemporary culture is just as influential on the world. A walk down the streets of Tokyo treats one to world class styles, clubs and cafes with arguably the coolest (and sometimes weirdest!) youth culture in the world. Those offerings aside, there is one thing that Japan is not as (yet) famous for in North America and that is POWDER!!! The snowfall in Japan rivals anywhere else in the world and in some areas it puts everywhere else to shame! It is deep! That’s why we have decided to take a trip during the winter months because if there’s one thing we like as much as the beach....it is blasting through some powder on whatever device we feel like strapping to our feet.

Niseko

Niseko ski resort in Hokkaido is probably the most famous Japan resort amongst international skiers and boarders. It is understandable, when you have the #2 highest amount of snowfall out of any resort in the world with an average of an astonishing 15 meters/season! (fyi #1 is Mt Baker, WA).  There is seemingly endless amounts of wicked terrain here including a few different parks, LOADS of amazing backcountry and tons of nicely spaced trees so that you'll never get bored and the powder will keep you screaming for more.

The town of Hirafu is located at the base of the mountain and it has no shortage of fun stuff to do.  It's international appeal means that it has different food options from all over the world as well as amazing nightlife if you want to rest the sore muscles with a pint or five at the Après.  This also means that English is widely spoken so getting yourself around is not a problem at all.  Even with the international appeal let's not forget that this is Japan so there's hot springs, sushi and saké too!

Epic Experiences you will have on this adventure

Soak in an "onsen" (natural hotspring)

There is arguably no experience more "Japanese" than stripping down with your friends/family and soaking your muscles in an onsen. Bathing together is something that has been a communal activity for many cultures since the beginning of human history. In Japan it is almost unimaginable to finish a day of riding the pow without stopping in at an onsen to wash up and then hit the tub with a couple of beers. And to answer your question....no they are not usually mixed gender!

Explore Tokyo

It is not every day you can visit an 500 year old shrine in a cedar forest, see an imperial palace, shop in the never ending lanes of Shibuya, eat the freshest sushi and end it all off with a party night of cheap beer and karaoke. There's literally millions of options of things to do in Tokyo.

Ride Through Pure Powder

Being in the mountains is an awesome experience in and of itself, but riding down a mountain whether on snowboard or skis is one of the greatest activities in the history of mankind. The combination of being in an epic setting like a gorgeous winter mountain and getting to physically carve down it at high speeds with the excitement of a kid on a playground, it's easy to see why it aligns perfectly with a traveler's ideology. But you haven't experienced the entire dream of riding until you've ridden through powder. Soft, fluffy, untouched snow that is sprawled out in front of you like a humungous tub of whipped cream, just waiting for you to pick your line and cut through it - it's the closest thing to heaven, we swear!
