Tadd MacKenna
Hello, I'm Tadd and I love traveling to new places for new experiences and I try to do it as much as possible. I've done most of my traveling when I was attending university. With each opportunity that came my way, I couldn't help but say “Yes!”. Every experience I've had traveling abroad has only lead to positive personal growth, new friends, and a better understanding of the world we live in. With a passport filled with the stamps of countries stretching from Ecuador to Sweden, I some how found myself back in Ontario struggling to study for my final exams when a roommate asked me “Want to go to Thailand after we graduate?” Naturally, I only had one answer.
When I checked out Free and Easy I thought, “What an awesome way to see a new country!”. But my first 40 days Thailand Trip was far beyond any tour. It was an epic journey that helped shape the way I think about traveling. The combination of touring with a group of like-minded people, to the most remarkable destinations, and at a comfortable pace are essential ingredients for the best trip ever! I had the time of my life in Thailand because I had the time and freedom to absorb the culture and environment around me.
With Free and Easy I had a trip filled with swimming in the ocean, hiking through waterfalls and caves, spectacular sunsets on the most gorgeous beaches, and trying as many new things as possible. There was always something to do, but plenty of time to kick back in my hammock with a book and listen to the monkeys laughing in the trees above. I did what I wanted to do, when I wanted to do it. And when I didn't know where to go, I had two knowledgeable and eccentric group leaders who helped make my trip the astonishing voyage it was.
Whenever I come back home from my travels I love to tell family and friends my anecdotes and adventures, and say “I wish you could've been there!”.But before long, that itch to hit the road grows and I just have to scratch it. Before they are ready to go, I am already out the door. Now I am very fortunate to be able to ask anyone to join me and help them discover the absolute best of South East Asia. It will open your eyes to a new way of thinking. For me I believe that the true value of traveling is a better understanding of the world at large, and an appreciation for where you are from, and where you are going.
