I’m originally from the small town of Fort St John, B.C. I’ve spent the last few years moving around quite a bit going to University to get my Commerce degree. I call Calgary home base for now when I’m back in Canada. I spend my time split between bartending and hanging out with friends. I’m a very social person and always like to be in the middle of fun times.
When deciding whether or not to return to Thailand for my second year with Free and Easy I was faced with some serious decisions about my life- whether to stay in Canada, get a corporate job and put my university degree to work, or grab my flip flops and board shorts and head back to paradise. I never said it was a hard decision, just a decision I took seriously! After last years epic summer of travel and new friends it was pretty much a guaranteed fact that I would be returning again.
I noticed a change taking place in my values and beliefs that slowly happened throughout the course of leading my first group. Maybe it was the unbelievable parties we had together, or the amazing experiences, we shared like climbing up a waterfall in a cave, or even still it could be the quiet times I had to reflect on the slow night ferry as the sun was setting. But somewhere along the line my eyes were opened up to a better way of life, one not centered on materialistic desires, or petty self-interested behaviors but a more open minded and accepting view of the world. Being able to travel and experience everything the world has to offer is the greatest ability in the world, one that not everyone can enjoy and for that I count myself very fortunate and try to make the most out of every new experience.
No matter what your expectations for you trip are, I’m certain they will easily be exceeded and you’ll have the experience if a lifetime! I’ve been to these places several times now and they still continue to amaze me. I can’t wait for another year of fun, adventure, and new friends!!
