Back in 2004, a group of my friends were planning an all-inclusive trip to Mexico, but I had other plans that year- I signed my boyfriend and I up for a one-month trip to Thailand. This trip changed my life. After spending that first month there, I knew I had to come back to this country. The following summer I ended up leading some groups and spending 4 months in Thailand and also having the chance to visit Bali. I met some life long friends during that summer and my passion for Thailand and travel only increased.
Following my summer of leading groups I thought I should try and get a real job, so I incorporated my love of travel and began working as a flight attendant. Fortunately there are a lot of perks to this job and I was able to get back out to Thailand another 4 times in the three years that I have worked for an airline. I've also been able to do a lot more traveling than I ever thought I would do. I've seen most of Canada, lots of destinations in the States and the Caribbean. This past summer I had the opportunity to have my parents join me for a few weeks to travel around Thailand and after a couple weeks of traveling around with them I headed off to India and spent a month there.
A little bit about me… I was born in England, and then moved to Canada when I was seven years old and finally this year I got my Canadian Citizenship! For now, I call Calgary home. I have my diploma in Social Work that I hope to use one day but at the moment my plans are to continue traveling! My favorite part of traveling is being with people who are witnessing a country for the first time… it's seeing their faces when they experience that first beach or step out into the 35C Bangkok heat. Their excitement and energy is contagious- I feel like I am seeing it all again for the first time!
My goal while in Thailand this year is to take a Thai language course; I'm really looking forward to this and I'm excited to be taking a break from the Western world and do what I love the most- traveling! I'll be back out in Thailand this January. I could give you a mile long list of all the reasons you will fall in love with Thailand and what you'll discover on your trip, but I'm pretty sure you'll find out for yourself. See you there!
