Ben Copeland
Hi, my name is Ben Copeland, and I am a travelholic. The most amazing part of this disease is that I wasn’t even aware of it until I was 24 years of age. Now it has taken over and runs my life . . . and I wouldn’t have it any other way!
It all started April
of 2007, a time where I had completed my 4 years of uni in Criminology. Upon my completion, I took some time for thought and contemplation of what I really wanted to do with my life. Then it dawned on me - I realized I had
absolutely no idea.
My sister had toured all over SE Asia
and had shown me pictures of amazing beaches, beautiful religious temples and
a way of life that seemed almost dream-like. I had always wanted to travel and have always been drawn to
the ocean. Hearing stories and seeing pictures created this magnetic force, and
this force pulled me all the way to Thailand. I really didn’t know what to expect. Soon I realized it was more than just
beautiful beaches and unparalleled scenery; the people, the culture, not to mention the food all
contributed to a different understanding of the world. All five senses reacted quickly to my surroundings.
It was absolute paradise, only I was experiencing it in person rather than
watching it on the discovery channel.
Before arriving in Bangkok,
I had travelled for 5 weeks in Europe, but for whatever reason as soon as I
arrived, I felt at that very moment that this was where I was supposed to
be. Everything was so foreign, so
exotic and different from anything I had ever seen or experienced. I believe some people can go through
life as spectators, watching life pass them by but the entire time I was travelling,
not only did I feel like I was living life, I also felt like I was truly
capable of anything. The people that I met and the friends
that I made from all over the world left me with an unforgettable experience
that could never be matched. I
grew up in suburbia near Toronto - a life of great friends, routine and
regularity. Contrast that with jungle
treks on elephant back in Chiang Mai, wrestling with tiger cubs, becoming a
certified scuba diver and partying on the beaches of Koh Phangon by the light
of the full moon (the list goes on). All this made me conscious that anything is possible,
and the world is truly a place with many dimensions to be discovered.
Come find what adventures lay ahead, and experience something so brilliant, it will alter how you perceive yourself and the world.
Life is what you make it - make it FREE and make it EASY.
