June 15th - Bangkok Update
Just had a few groups coming and going out of Bangkok and nobody would have ever know there were some troubles here a month ago. Business as usual!
May 20th - Bangkok Update
We'd like to address the problems happening in Bangkok and the north of Thailand at the moment. I'm sure that the images on the news are scaring friends and family. But hopefully we can explain to them that the closest problem zone is about 800 km away from us. The Red shirts are based out of the northern provinces...which are even further away from where we are now. Hopefully, all this ugliness on the news right now will have a good outcome and after a couple of days of cleaning up the riff raff we'll have the same ol' peaceful Bangkok.
If in some crazy circumstances this isn't all taken care of in 3 weeks time we feel confident in our alternate plans. In fact, we have a group finishing their trip today and will be flying out on the 21st. They are on the night train tonight and were supposed to go back for one last night in Bangkok. We have arranged for a change in plans. They will now get off the train early and go to the quiet, beautiful, riverside town of Kanchanaburi for the night (it's 150 km from Bangkok). When it comes time to go to the airport we will take buses directly from Kanchanburi to the airport and go around the outskirts of the city. We feel that this is a completely safe solution to any possible issues that could arise in these crazy days. We also have contacts all over the country who we are keeping in close contact with to make sure we have accurate information as to the safety of any particular place we need to be.
We also have great confidence in the Thai people that the vast majority of them want nothing more than peace and will do what it takes to achieve it in the coming days.
Please feel free to forward this email to any friends or family who are probably very concerned about you. The western media likes to show the worst of the worst so I'm sure it looks like a very dangerous place to be at the moment. Hard to believe people are worried about us as we sit back in paradise sippin' on some ice cold Changs!

February 4th - Haiti Relief
We would just like to thank all of the people who signed up during our funding drive for Haiti. In total we were able to raise $3300 for Haiti relief. With the Canadian government matching all donations that makes for $6600!
January 20th - Haiti Relief
From January 20th until February 3rd we will donate 100$ for every sign up (with deposit) we receive for an international trip.

May 20th - update
Busy season has come again to Free and Easy. We currently have 4 groups roaming around Thailand and one in the Philippines. We are about to debut our newest trip to Laos, North Thailand and Cambodia. Our new trip to Nicaragua is coming along nicely. And the latest rumblings are sounding a lot like Bali in 2010! Exciting times here at Free and Easy!
