Malapascua
A long day of travel will conclude when our boat pulls up to a private cove and beach that now becomes the ‘Free & Easy’ resort. This discovery is our diamond in the rough, and perfectly set up for simple beach living – ESPECIALLY with a group. The resort is situated on a tiny peninsula that juts out from the rock with white sand beaches on either side of it. The food is great, the view from the rooms are staggering, and we have it all to ourselves!
Besides beautiful beaches, it is the scuba diving that has put Malapascua on the map. To those who travel specifically for diving, this is a scuba diving "Mecca" and is considered one of the best spots in S.E. Asia. The coral reefs are vibrant purples and blues, the water is clear to 20 meters, and there are daily sightings of 3 magnificent creatures – the unique thresher shark, the 6 meter manta ray, and 3 meter white tipped sharks!! (all of which are friendly, so no worries) With a dive shop set up right on our beach, this is the perfect diving home base. Even beginners can do ‘Discover’ scuba trips, or longer courses to complete their Open Water Certification.
