Whale Sharks
On our
Philippines trip that goes from March 1st - April 11th, we will be
making a stop in a small Filipino town that has gained enormous
recognition the past 10 years, because of the opportunity to see the
world's biggest fish - the Whale Shark! Each
year from November - April, upwards of 100 whale sharks return to the
warm Filipino waters and stay centered around one small area of Luzon
Island.
Though
there is no guarantee that you will see a whale shark, we experienced
it this year in late March, and it was an UNREAL experience. The whale sharks can be anywhere from 6 – 10 meters long, and heads that are 2 meters wide! They are gentle giants, so there is no danger; you can just sit back and be amazed by their presence. There
is no scuba diving allowed in the area, only snorkeling, but they come
close enough to the surface where you can be within 2 feet of them. We are excited to add this stop to our trip and really hopeful we’ll get to share it with all those who join us in March!
