Summary of the 25-Day Trip
From Bangkok we will head east by mini-bus to Cambodia and the town of Siem Reap This is where we will start our journey. . This town will serve as the base from which we will explore the ruins of Angkor Wat. These ancient ruins are some of the most amazing in the world. And for the time being you are still allowed to explore them without barriers. There are enough of them to keep you going for weeks...but we will have to be satisfied with a 3-day pass. Bring extra memory cards for your cameras because you won't be able to stop taking photos of this astounding part of the world.
Then travel north into Laos to the picture perfect town of Vang Vieng. There are many things to do but probably the most notorious is the tubing experience. The shores of this river are dotted with cool little bamboo bars for you to stop at along the way....most people try to stop at every one. They also all try to outdo each other by seeing who can build the most spectacular zip line or swing to hurl your body out into the sky and back down into the water. Fun? Hell Yeah!!
On this trip you will find that along the journey is where you find some of the most beautiful scenery. And our trip to Luang Prabang is no exception. The landscape between Vang Vieng and Luang Prabang is nothing short of stunning. Luang Prabang is a cool little town with a heavy French influence. You're just as likely to have a baguette for lunch as you are a curry!
From here we will head west, by plane, back into Thailand and the city of Chiang Mai. This is where we will start our journey. Here in Chiang Mai we will be get a taste of northern Thai culture and get to cruise the streets of this chilled out city. It will also serve as the base for our 2-day hill trek where we'll ride elephants, see hill tribes and swim in waterfalls.
